Sandra Piarentozzi, Chairwoman (Regional)

Sandra Piarentozzi Ms. Pierantozzi has served in a variety of high-level government and private sector positions including her service as the Vice-President of the Republic. She has represented Palau to the United Nations special sessions and in other international forums and chaired Palau delegations to Palau/US Annual Joint Meetings for COFA review in Palau, Guam, and Washington, DC. Ms. Pierantozzi's extensive public service also includes election as a Senator, to the Fifth Palau National Congress 1997-2000. She was the first and so far the only woman ever to serve in the Senate of the Palau National Congress (Olbiil Era Kelulau). As a Senator, she served as Floor Leader of the Senate and chaired the Senate Committee on Health and Social Welfare.

In the field of conservation, she has also lead the way as a Founding Director of the Palau Conservation Society (PCS), 1994, the first non-governmental, non-profit organization in Palau working towards conservation and preservation of Palau's natural environment and has served on its board of directors continuously since. She has also served on the Board of Governors, Pacific Islands Development Bank from 1991-2004. Ms. Pierantozzi's educational background includes graduate studies at San Diego State University and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Honolulu.

Lee Webber, Vice-Chairman(International)

Lee WebberMr. Lee Webber is the owner of Managed Development Associates, Consulting, providing Strategic planning and Communications, Ensuring Sustainability between Man, Land & Sea. He currently serves as the President of the Micronesian Divers Association, Hagatna, Guam and is a Board member of numerous business, military and community organizations, including the Air Force Civilian Advisory Council, Boy Scouts of America-Aloha Council, and Military Advisory Committee, Diamond Head Theatre, Enterprise Honolulu, Foundation for the Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies, Hawaii Business Roundtable, Japan-America Society of Hawaii, and USS Missouri Memorial Association, Guam Chamber of Commerce. His professional memberships include the Society of Professional Journalists, International Press Institute and the Foreign Correspondence Club.

Mr. Webber also spent many years as the President and Publisher of The Honolulu Advertiser and President of Gannett Pacific Corporation while living in Hawaii. Other past positions include serving as the President of Guam Publications, Inc for 24 years as well as a stint at USA TODAY.  Other past affiliations include: the Navy League of the United States, Guam Chamber of Commerce, Boy Scouts of America and the Guam Visitors Bureau, as well as serving as the Vice Chairman of the University of Guam’s Board of Regents. He also served as a United States Navy Hospital Corpsman and served in Vietnam in the 3rd Marine Division, 3rd Recon Battalion.

Mr. Webber has received numerous awards for his business, education and military achievements and for his commitment to his community. He holds a B.B.A. in Management from the University of Guam and his professional training includes The Looking Glass, Center for Creative Leadership; Management of Managers Program, University of Michigan Business School; American Press Institute-Cost and Management Seminar and Executive Development Program.

 

Kasio "Kembo" Mida Jr., Esq., Secretary (Regional)

KemboMr Mida is a lawyer for the Law Firm of Fred Ramp in Pohnpei, FSM. Prior to this position he served as the Chief of Litigation for the FSM Department of Justice. He also teaches law at the College of Micronesia in the trial counselor certificate program. His bar memberships include the Michigan State Bar and the FSM Bar. Mr. Mida has successfully lobbied for legislation and regulations on both the state and national level ranging from farming and exporting of mangrove crab to corporate income tax and insurance matters. He was a founding member and first elected President of Guide and Assist Through Awareness (a non-profit NGO in Chuuk State) and now serves on the FSM Scholarship Board.

Mr. Mida received his B.A. from Humboldt State University (CA) in 1999 and conducted his senior internship for the Honorable Chief Justice Andon L. Amaraich, FSM Supreme Court. Immediately after graduating, Mr. Mida returned to Chuuk State and worked as a teacher at Saramen Chuuk Academy and the College of Micronesia for several years. His legal education includes attendance at Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Michigan, where he earned his Juris Doctor Degree in 2005. There he served the Managing Editor of the Thomas M. Cooley Law Review and earned the Certificate of Merit for Highest Academic Grade in Criminal Law, Law Practice, and International Human Rights.

Denise S. Adams Boylan, Treasurer (Regional)

Denise S. Adams BoylanDenise S. Adams Boylan currently manages Ace Office Supplies, a retailer of school and office supplies, and Pacific Realtors Inc in Pohnpei, FSM. She graduated from the University of Portland in 1990 as the valedictorian of the Business School with Bachelors in Accounting. Upon graduation, she went to work for Price Waterhouse as a public auditor for the next 5 years. In that time, Mrs. Boylan earned licenses as both a Certified Public Accountant in 1993 and a Certified Management Accountant in 1994. She transitioned from public auditing in 1994 to become the Corporate Accounting Manager for Western Power and Equipment, a heavy equipment retailer with stores throughout the Western United States. In 1997, Mrs. Boylan and her husband left the West Coast to return to her home in Pohnpei.

Akiko Domoto, Member (International)

Akiko DomotoAn accomplished producer, director and newscaster, Ms Domoto has worked for the Tokyo Broadcasting System for over 35 years. Her documentary credits include, "The Age of Child Slavery," "Monitoring Japan's ODA," "Tibetan New Year," "The Phantom Guge Kingdom," and "Children Who Cannot Chew." She also serves as member of the Promotion Committee for Biodiversity and as a member of the Japan National Committee for the International Year of Biodiversity.

She earned a B.A. in Social Sciences from the Tokyo Women's Christian College and has also had a career in politics. She served as a Member of the Japan House of Councilors from 1989 to 2001 and then as the Governor of Chiba Prefecture from 2001 to 2009. She has also served as the President of GLOBE International, represented Japan on the Independent International Commission on Kosovo, the Vice President and East Asia Regional Councilor to IUNC, a founder of Japan Women's Global Environmental Network International and a founder of the International Children's Network.

Her awards include: UNEP's 25 Women Leaders in Action (1997); Japanese Citizen's Broadcasting League Award (1991); Conference of Japanese Journalist Award (1991); Special Award, Japanese Cultural Broadcasting Foundation (1991); and Bronze Medal, New York Film Festival (1985). Ms. Domoto is also widely published on subjects ranging from domestic violence policies to climate change and biodiversity.

Aren Palik, Member (Regional)

Mr. Palik has served as the President and CEO of the Pacific Islands Development Bank since 2002. Prior to that, he served as Vice President and Country Manager for Bank of Hawaii's FSM region, Vice President for Branch Administration and Lending at Bank of FSM, and Vice President of the FSM Development Bank. Mr. Palik also worked for Kosrae State Government as Chief Planner and Economist.

In addition to being a Trustee of the Micronesia Conservation Trust since July 2007, Mr. Palik currently serves as one of the Advisors of The Celidon Foundation (www.celidon.org); Guam's Military/Civilian Task Force Subcommittee on Economic Development and Subcommittee on Housing whose task is to assess and make recommendation on the impact of the planned military expansion in Guam; Board of Governors of the Asia Pacific Association for Fiduciary Studies; and as a member of the Guam Chamber of Commerce.

His involvement in civic activities has included serving as a Delegate to the 3rd FSM Constitutional Convention; Delegate to the 3rd Kosrae State Constitutional Convention; and a member of the Lelu Municipal Charter Task Force. He served as a member of the Pacific Islands Small Business Development Center Advisory Board, President of Pohnpei Chamber of Commerce; Chairman of the Kosrae Utility Authority Board of Directors; Chairman of Kosrae State Board of Education; and member of the FSM Development Bank Board of Directors.

Mr. Palik graduated Valedictorian from Kosrae High School in 1977 and went on to attain a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Economics from Eastern Oregon State College. He attended the University of Delaware's Graduate School of Banking and graduated with Honors in 1998.

Frank Shimizu, Sr., Member (Regional)

Frank ShimizuMr. Shimizu is currently the President of Ambros, Inc in Guam and currently serves as the President for Mar-Pac Distributors Inc. in Saipan and Shimbros International Inc. in Palau. He formerly served as First Lieutenant in the US Army Artillery Corps in Fort Carson, Colorado. Prior to his military service, he worked as a math and science teacher at Agat Junior High School in Guam. Mr Shimizu has served on the Board of Directors for numerous organizations, including Guam Business Partners for Recycling, Guam Power Authority, Guam Chamber of Commerce, Bank Pacific and the Guam Economic Development Authority. He graduated from Pomona College, Claremont, CA in 1961 with a B.S. in Mathematics and a minor in Military Science.

Robert Jones, Member (Regional)

Robert JonesRobert H. Jones, the founder and President of Triple J Enterprises, has served Guam, CNMI and Micronesian islands for over 40 years. His work in the region began with Jones and Guerrero Co., Inc. where he worked for 25 years. The last 15 of which, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Guam and all of Micronesia. He started his own family company Triple J Enterprises, Inc. in 1984.

In 1981 the Chamber of Commerce and the Guam Business News chose him as Guam and Saipan's first Businessman of the Year. In later years, the same publication listed Triple J Enterprises as the fastest growing company in Guam and the Micronesia. Mr. Jones is also well respected throughout the island community for his many civic contributions, especially Boy Scouts of America where he serves as Executive Vice President of the Aloha Council and has earned many awards for his work with the Guam Boy Scouts including the Silver Beaver and the Silver Antelope Award.

Mr. Jones also owns and operates Triple J Merchant Services, a freight forwarding and consolidation warehouse in South San Francisco. Triple J Enterprises played an instrumental role in bringing K-Mart to Guam and oversees several restaurants in Guam and Saipan including Tony Roma, Capricciosa and the Outback Steakhouse.

Marie Maddison, Member (Regional)

Marie MaddisonMs. Maddison is currently the Director of the RMI National Training Council. Her previous professional experience includes the position of Advisor/Director of Administration for Women United Together Marshall Islands (WUTMI), and serving as the President of the Marshall Islands Council of NGO's. Ms. Maddison has worked in numerous capacities for the RMI Government, including: Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Secretary of Education, Secretary of Health Services, Secretary of Social Services, and Chairperson of Public Service Commission. She was also the founding director of the Roots Resource and Development Center, Inc. Ms. Maddison has served on numerous boards and committees, including, but not limited to: TTPI Advisory Council on Vocational Education; Marshalls District American Red Cross Committee; PIHOA (Pacific Islands Health Officers Association); PPEC (Pacific Postsecondary Education Council); COM (College of Micronesia) Board; and PREL (Pacific Resources for Education & Learning) Board. She also serves as the MCT Board of Trustees' representative to the Regional Grants Technical Committee.

Her educational background includes a Masters Degree in Education Leadership at San Diego State University in 2005 and a B.A. in English from St. Mary's College, Leavenworth, Kansas in 1973. She has also completed numerous courses in education and economic development.

Yosiwo P. George (Honorary Member)

Yosiwo P. GeorgeMr. Yosiwo P. George is the current ambassador of the FSM to the United States. He attended the College of Guam, in 1963 under a Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands (TTPI) general scholarship. After attending the College of Guam for two semesters, he was awarded an East-West Center Scholarship at the University of Hawaii, Manoa Campus, where he continued his undergraduate studies, graduating with a B.S. Degree in Mathematics in 1968. While at the University of Hawaii, he also studied at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, New Mexico for a semester, under a US Federal Government sponsored cultural-interchange program (East-West Center). While working for TTPI Social Security Program in Saipan, he attended Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, for a one year, to pursue post-graduate work in Actuarial Science.
